YWAM Port Elizabeth is called to be “glocal” meaning to be both global and local in the vision that God has given us in Matthew 28:19-20 & Mark 15:16. Therefore, as much as we are involved in global initiatives we also desire to be as effective in our city of Port Elizabeth, the surrounding areas, as well as in the rest of South Africa.
In Matthew 9:38 Jesus says to his disciples “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few” and I can truly testify to that in the city of Port Elizabeth and South African as a whole. This city has never been so ready to be harvested and as much as we are able to start the ‘hand full of ministries’, we acknowledge and understand that the task at hand is in desperate need for more workers.
You might be one of those that the Lord has appointed and anointed to start (or shall I say pioneer) one of those life changing ministries here in PE.
–Would you dare to dream with God?
–You can also join us in prayer, to the Lord of the harvest to send us more workers.
We currently work with two local High Schools on a weekly basis; teaching Life Orientation to grade 9-12 learners. This includes equipping students with practical tools to improve their relationships, communication, and obtaining a vision for their lives.
We also do devotions during the school assembly whenever we are asked to do so. And we continue to trust God for more open doors in Local Schools, Colleges, Universities and the Communities of Port Elizabeth at large.
A Life Skills Training program is also an aspect of ministry we are involved in. This ministry entails working with unemployed youth within the local townships and giving them practical skills to guide their lives and help them to secure employment.
